If I have co-ordinates of two point, how can I calculate the midpoint of orthogonal path between them ..

2,4 2,5 2,6 2,7 2,9

The midpoint between (2,4) and (4,9) is (2,7) ..
How can calculate it ??
and I know the co-ordinate of the corner (2,9)
