[HM] Huygens and the invention of tree diagrams

I have a note in my files that suggests that Huygens
was the first to use the idea of a tree-graph, and
have a date of 1676 from another note.. but I can't
find any reference to the document in which this was
done.

Can some one point me toward a reference that shows
this "first tree graph" of a mathematical nature, and
if possible, on-line...
