I have to ask another 'stupid' question.

I've been finding tons of useful equations from this site and sites linked to & from it, but every one of them seems to assume that I know how to read

Ax + By + C = 0

I know it's a simple equation, but I don't know that the different variables represent.

I understand y = x(Slope) + (y-Intercept)

How does this translate? Thanks.
