beginner's geometry question

this is a really basic problem but i would really appreciate some help:
i'm working my way through the interactive construction site's problems and i'm stuck on the following, intermediate problem related to //ograms:

if you have the time to have a look,
but i'll briefly describe the problem here:
you have to construct a //ogram from scratch, using only compass and ruler;
i get the perpendicular right at B, then when i go to contruct the segment parallel to AB, i get stuck for some reason;
if you have time, could somone pl write out the steps here that i need to follow..
