I'm designing a discrete cosine transform hardware for decoding MPEG format. It need two-dimension IDCT. In order to reduce area of gate design so I have to do a fast cosine transformation. Anyone has comment about it or can suggest me about how to reduce instuction please write to me.
Now I want to know about relation of cos(1/16)PI , cos(2/16)PI ,..., cos(7/16)PI in mathematical
cos(1/16) PI = sqrt(2+sqr(2+sqrt(2)))/2 cos(2/16) PI = sqrt(2+sqr))/2 cos(3/16) PI = sqrt(2+sqr(2-sqrt(2)))/2 cos(4/16) PI = sqrt(2)/2 cos(5/16) PI = sqrt(2-sqr(2-sqrt(2)))/2 cos(6/16) PI = sqrt(2-sqr))/2 cos(7/16) PI = sqrt(2-sqr(2+sqrt(2)))/2
