TI-Nspire, the handhelds and software programs were released this past week at the T3 International Conference in Chicago. The new unit comes with both the TI-84+ and the new Nspire handheld faceplates so you actually get 2 units for the price of one.
We expect the price to be about $10 more than the cost of a TI-84+Silver.
The software version is great for laptop schools and is completely compatible with the handhelds. This new product allows you to see all of your students work, collect it electronically, review and comment, and even electronically hand back their papers. This can be done with FREE software. Many dealers are already taking orders although they will not begin shipping until August. If you need to spend funds before June 30th you will need to order the TI-84, if you are using funds from next years 2007-2008 budget, you can purchase the latest technology for a few dollars more.
This unit may be used with all of three new Regents exams as well as Math A/B.
I will be holding informational workshops across the state and will post a list tomorrow.
It is very user friendly :-)
Computer based technology.
For teachers:
30 sites across the US have been chosen as training sites. There are 4 sites in NY and 3 classes (total of 75 participants) at each site. That means...there are 300 spots statewide for this special promotion. When they are filled, they are gone. This is an outstanding opportunity if you can get into one of the programs- they are part of the kickoff campaign and a great deal!
For $225 you get:
3 days of training
TI-Nspire handheld
TI-Nspire software
New overhead panel
(The unit has 2x the screen size and 5x the resolution of the 84+ so a new panel is needed)
You can register at any of the national sites.

The registration link for the TI-Nspire summer institutes is now live at TI-Nspire.com!
