Friends,
I suppose it has gradually dawned on many that the HM (Historia Matematica) list is no more. My message on Al-Khayyam's Commentary on Euclid's Elements which I submitted on Jan. 1 was the last to be released to the membership of that list. You can read it on: http://chasque.apc.org/jgc/archive.html My purpose in writing the message was to stir up discussion. If there was any discussion I am unaware of it, since no further messages were distributed by Julio, although several have been submitted. If anyone does have any comments, I will be very pleased if you would post them here. In February I submitted to Julio my message on Book II. Since it has never been distributed, I will post it here shortly. I had not finished composing my thoughts on Book III which is much more difficult and I am afraid my thoughts on all these matters are somewhat stale at this point, so it may be a while before I can compose something on that.
