AP Scoring
Posted: Apr 27, 1998 9:27 PM

When the AP multiple choice and free-response scores are combined to get a
final result of 1,2,3,4, or 5, is the score on the multiple choice section
rounded to the nearest whole number, or do the graders retain the
fractional (or decimal) scores exactly. For example, if as a result of the
"# Right - .25 * # Wrong", a student's score is 24.5, is that rounded or is
that exact score combined with the free-response score for the final
result? (I realize that the multiple choice score is scaled to weight it
the same as the free-response, but is it rounded first?)
