New Addition Therorem?

Ok, so i just discovered a new way that can help kids to make sure of their answers when adding.

Step 1: 324+855=1179

Step 2: 3+2+4+8+5+5=27=2+7=9

Step 3: 1+1+7+9=18=1+8=9

So, 9=9, so the answer is correct! What dou you guys think? Good idea? And did anyone discover it from before?
