Percentile Rank

We have found some discrepancies in computing percentile rank among various textbooks and review books for the Integrated Algebra assessment. We were under the impression that to find the percentile rank of a number that is one of the data values, you would find the number of values less than this number plus one-half the values equal to this number and divide by then total number of data values. However, we have found some sources that simply take the number of values less than the given number and divide by the total number of data values. Does anyone know which method the state will be using on the assessment? John Sittig Math Department Chair Clayton A. Bouton HS Voorheesville, NY jsittig@vcsdk12.org
