Transfer students

Do transfer students (either from private schools or from out of state) need to pass all three Regents exams for the Advanced Regents diploma? Do they need to pass Algebra for graduation?
For example, if a student transfers having already taken an algebra course somewhere else take the geometry course and Geometry Regents, and the Alg2Trig course and Regents and earn advanced regents diploma credit?
Could they take either the Geometry course and Regents or the Alg2Trig course and regents and earn graduation credit without having taken the Algebra Regents?
Likewise, if they've taken Algebra and Geometry somewhere else, could they take only the Alg2Trig course and earn graduation credit? Advanced regents diploma credit?
Thanks for any info!
