Lehman College, CUNY has been awarded a National Science Foundation grant, Mathematics Teacher Transformation Institutes (MTTI). MTTI will bring Bronx middle and high school teachers together with Lehman College faculty to enhance knowledge of mathematics and research in education, strengthen pedagogy, and build leadership skills. Through a rich set of opportunities including courses that are directly relevant to the current New York State curriculum, support from New York City Mathematics Project staff development specialists, undergraduate tutors, online discussion forums and conferences, teachers/coaches will engage with one another, faculty, and other professionals in a unique, three-year program. All tuition, fees, and stipends are funded by the grant. Participants will receive 23-24 post-masters graduate credits and $12,000 in stipends over three years of involvement. The deadline for applications is December 3, 2008. There will be an information session at Lehman College about our new NSF-funded program, Mathematics Teacher Transformation Institutes (MTTI), for prospective participants and principals. The session will take place Wednesday, November 12 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Room 232 of the Speech & Theatre Building, Lehman College.
The purpose of the session is to provide information about the program, introduce prospective participants to some of the people they will get to know through MTTI, and answer questions about the application process.
