Greetings!

This message is for AMTE'ers who are involved with preservice secondary
mathematics teacher prep.

Our mathematics dept is discussing the current requirement of a
one-semester computer science course for its secondary mathematics
education majors (degree earned in mathematics dept). The current options
include
(1) Intro to Fortran
(2) Scientific PASCAL (both from the mathematics dept)

(3) either of (1) or (2) from comp sci dept
(4) Structured Problem Solving Using the Computer (no language listed; comp
sci dept).

I'm interested in hearing from others in a similar situation regarding
what, if any, computing or computer science is required of secondary
majors. Feel free to reply directly to me rather than the list, if you
prefer. Thanks for your input!
