We are a field test site for the Core Plus Mathematics Program. This is an
integrated program with a strong probability/statistics strand through the
four-course sequence. As we phase out our old, traditional program, we have
dropped our Probability and Statistics course (which was designed for
students who were not able to succeed in Precalculus). AP Statistics will be
offered as a 2nd course for students who are in our fourth-year course
(Mathematical Analysis) and to seniors who, through acceleration, have
completed Mathematical Analysis during the junior.

We expect this new course to be mathematically stronger than our old P&S
course, so we are concerned with textbook selection. We use cooperative
learning and projects in our new curriculum, so we are interested in projects
that have been used with success as well.

I will appreciate any comments from members of the list on either of these
two issues.

Thanks.
