>>>>>> Here is a quick list off my shelf of statistics books. I HAVE NO IDEA IF THESE ARE APPROPRIATE but at first glance they are books I will look through when the term is over. I would love feedback from anyone on these books:
Bluman, Allan. Elementary Statistics: A Step by Step Approach, 2nd ed. WCB. 1995. Hawley, Warren. Foundations of Statistics. Saunders College Publ. 1996. Johnson, Richard & Bhaattacharyya, Gouri. Statistics: Principles and Methods, 3rd Ed. Wiley. 1996. Johnson, Robert. Elementary Statistics, 7 ed. ITP/Duxbury. 1996. Mann, Prem. Introductory Statistics, 2nd. Edition. Wiley. 1995. McClave, James T. & Dietrich, Frank. Statistics, 6th Ed. Dellan/Macmillan. 1994. Rossman, Allan. Workshop Statistics: Discovery with data. Springer-Verlag. Scheaffer, Richard et al. Activity-Based Statistics. Springer-Verlag. Triola (I do not have the full reference, but other teachers have used this book and are considering it). <<<<<<<<<<<
Of the numerous books I read while developing our Statistics CrashCourse, my three favorites are, in this order:
Levin, Richard I. and Rubin, David S, A Short Course in Business Statistics, Prentice Hall, 1983.
Bluman, Allan. Elementary Statistics: A Step by Step Approach, 2nd ed. WCB. 1995. [This was the first one on your list.]
Triola, Mario F. Elementary Statistics, Fourth Edition, The Benjamin/Cummings Publishing Company, 1989 [This was the first one on your list.]
I think all three of these books are excellent and teach Statistics in a way that a highschool senior, college freshman or anyone wanting to learn the subject can understand. There are no formal proofs or theorems, and the mathematics required is at the Algebra level.
