Olympic Long Jump Problem

The olympic long jump problem mentioned recently in several messages does not
predict well the outcome of the 1996 long jump results, as the problem is
treated in the teaching notes for AP Stats.

Perhaps if the variables were transformed logarithmically and then regressed,
with residuals nicely behaving, then detransforming with attention to the
adjustment factor to address transformation bias, the prediction interval for
this year's result falls much closer to actual.
