After reading an assigned newpaper article that suggests that many published statistics are incorrect or manipulated, one of my Honors Precalculus students wrote in his journal:
"this begs a paradoxical question: is the statistic that states the most statistics are manipulated true itself, in which case it is probably false, or is it an incorrect statistic, meaning that most statistics are true, which in turn would lead us to believe that the statistic about the reliability of other statistics is probably not false as we assumed but actually true."
