When the syllabus for AP stats was published, I gave a copy to each faculty member in our Statistics program and asked them to evaluate it for possble credit. They agreed it would suffice for either our introductry stats for liberal arts course or our introductory business stats course--but not for our introductory math stats (for which Calculus is a prerequisite).
If a University is not yet giving credit you might contact a faculty member there and send some material. If the University has a Math Ed program you could contact the person who teaches the Secondary Math Methods course. Or else ask for the Statistics Chair/Coordinator.
Have some ammunition ready--such as a list of other colleges in the area who give credit and the courses they give credit for. These things aren't automatic at Universities--someone has to push.
