Proportions & Means Tests

Hi Everyone:

Ron Dirkse and I have been discussing significance tests using proportions
rather than means. We do not remember spending much time on these tests in
our college courses. I noted the following which might be on interest:

Rossman's Workshop Statistics starts with tests involving proportions and
later goes for the means. It has been an advantage in that:

Since you do not need the standard dev of the population for inferential
statistics when using proportions my students can do their own real world
experiments without knowing the t-distribution.
