It has been interesting to read the strong feelings that many of us have
after Josh's innocent question.

One point that all of us should keep in mind is that all students taking
the AP stats exam will be given a sheet with all the formulas on it as
noted in the Course Description. This is the same information that most
students would likely enter into their calculators as notes. Since all
students have the same access to the information, the complaints about
who has the advantage are somewhat moot.

There is no question we all want our students to be ethical. I'm sure
the Test Development Committee has spent hours discussing these same
concerns. I have confidence in their ability to recognize the problem
and to write a test that measures the student's abilities and knowledge
rather than the capacity of their hardware.

Thanks for all the insights into the education biz.
