Statistics is offered at my school as an alternate option to Calculus. We
have found that some student who may have not taken Calculus their senior
year, or would have wallowed in Math 6 (a non-AP Calculus course), have
signed up for AP Stats. Many signed up for the AP on their transcript
regardless of whether they would receive college credit or not. But I have
been pleasantly surprised with a few of my students who are geniunely
motivated in class and are determined to pursue some form of statistics in
college (in business, actuarial science, etc).
