What troubles students?

All,

Please indulge a curious graduate student looking for answers from the
experts:

1. What areas/concepts in the introductory statistics courses you have
taught are most difficult for your students to grasp?

2. What material from the courses excites or interests your students?

3. What material bores them?

Also, does anyone know of published studies addressing these same issues?

Thanks!
