Getting MATLAB to send an email

I only have access to email servers that require authentication. I don't really want to use something like GMail because I would prefer the messages to use an address that was part of my domain.

- The sendmail function does not support e-mail servers that require authentication.
- I've seen this post [], which does work but requires someone to physically click to allow MATLAB to use Outlook
- I see you could use 'web mailto:email_address', but again, someone has to hit send
- I suppose I could get MATLAB to call a PHP file on the local machine that would send the message, but it seems this would open a browser window, which is not ideal either...

Have I missed a trick here? Is there an easy solution to this? Seems strange that there isn't a way to get MATLAB to fire out a message to let you know its finished.

If not, does anyone have any comments on the following:

- Is there some kind of free activex component that could provide SMTP functionality for using authenticated servers?
- Could MATLAB run a PHP script without opening a browser window?
- Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance for your comments.
