Find peaks in a histogram

I have a set of collected data that includes nx1 matrices. Each one is histogramed, and when this is done there is a peak in the resulting figure. I would like matlab to look through the histogram of each matrix and fit a gaussian distribution to this peak. All the help that I've found online, so far, has dealt with the "imextendemax" command, and I'm not dealing with an image.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Josh
