FOURTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ETHNOMATHEMATICS
http://icem-4.org/
The fourth annual ICEM comes to its fourth continent this July 25-30 when it arrives near Baltimore, in Towson, Maryland.
Ethnomathematics looks at the mathematics of cultural groups and the many interactions between mathematics and culture. Anyone interested in ethnomathematics is invited to participate--including those who do not consider themselves mathematicians!
The conference will include scholarly presentations, cultural features, excursions, lunches, etc. and a day-tour to the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. Inexpensive accommodations will be available in university residence halls; also there are nearby hotels.

AdaptErrEx CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~bmclaren/projects/AdaptErrEx/
AdaptErrEx has developed free online materials to aid in teaching decimals to middle school students. Laboratory studies indicate that these materials help students to learn better and faster.
This project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, now seeks middle school teachers who want to use these materials in the classroom, for a study of the materials' effectiveness in real environments. Participating teachers will receive gifts after the studies are completed.
To learn more about how you can participate, please go to:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~bmclaren/projects/AdaptErrEx/teachers/
Try some of AdaptErrEx's intelligent software for decimal addition or proportional reasoning here:
http://www.webmathtutor.org/
For questions, contact Bruce McLaren, the study director, at bmclaren@cs.cmu.edu.
