The Harris Corporation and The Rochester Area Colleges' Center for Excellence in Math and Science (RAC-CEMS) are teaming up to offer nine no-cost hands-on math, science and technology institutes for teachers. These intensive learning opportunities are offered to K-12 teachers of math, science, and related technologies in Allegany, Cayuga, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates counties. Each Institute is led by regional college or institution faculty in a summer classroom, lab and/or field experience, followed by ongoing follow-up and support activities that continue throughout the 2010-2011 academic year and is offered at no cost to the participants. Hands-on Environmental Science Activities using GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment)-Alfred University

Inquiry in Earth Sciences-Intermediate and Elementary Curriculum-Rochester Museum and Science Center

Tale of Two Lakes: Scientific Inquiry into Keuka and Seneca Lakes-Hobart and William Smith Colleges

Inquiry-based Interdisciplinary Mathematics, Science, Technology and Literacy (MSTL) for Grades K-6-Nazareth College

Developing Mathematical Ideas: Making Meaning of Operations-Warner School of Education/University of Rochester

Inquiry-Based Chemistry Institute-St. John Fisher College

Mastering Molecular Biology Through Manipulative Models-Life Sciences Learning Center/University of Rochester

Using Zebra Mussels for Good, Not Evil: Hands-On Experiments and Modeling Activities-Keuka College

Mathematics, Science and Technology Institute-St. John Fisher College
