The Journal of Urban Mathematics Education (JUME) is a peer-
reviewed, open-access, academic journal focused on research,
pedagogy, and scholarship of mathematics in urban communities.
K-16 urban mathematics teachers and teacher educators are
encouraged to tell their stories in the new Public Stories of
Mathematics Educators section, reflecting on their pedagogical
philosophies and practices, and their effects on opportunities
to learn for the students they serve.

NATIONAL GIRLS COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
http://www.ngcproject.org/
The National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) intends to
bring together organizations throughout the United States that
focus on encouraging girls to pursue careers in science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The NGCP's
stated goals are to:
- maximize access to shared resources within projects and
with public and private sector organizations and
institutions interested in expanding girls' participation
in STEM
- strengthen capacity of existing and evolving projects by
sharing promising practice research and program models,
outcomes and products
- use the leverage of a network or collaboration of
individual girl-serving STEM programs to create the tipping
point for gender equity in STEM
On the site, you can:
- find out more about the NGCP
- list your program in a national database
- browse the database for other programs, or search for
programs based on name, location, needs, etc.
- apply for a mini-grant related to either informal learning
or evaluation and assessment
- read NGCP newsletters
- find out about events related to encouraging girls in STEM

TECH POWERED MATH

Lucas Allen has begun this site designed to alert students,
parents, and educators to new developments in technology for
learning math and educate them on how to use those resources.
The site is new, and content is continuously added in these
areas:
- video lessons incorporating technology
- reviews and comparisons of popular classroom technology,
primarily the TI-84 and TI-Nspire graphing calculators
- lists of approved calculators and dates for the ACT and
SAT tests
- a discussion forum and FAQ
