Hello-I am a doctoral student at Pace University and an AP Calculus
teacher. I am currently working on a research project for my
dissertation that is focused on investigating the relationships among
calculator choices in AP Calculus classes, as well as teacher beliefs
that inform the decision about which calculator to use. I will be
gathering information on calculator use and beliefs through a survey.
The survey is designed to investigate several questions: Is there a
relationship between AP scores and the type of calculator used? Is
there a relationship between type of calculator used in class and
frequency of use? Is there a relationship between frequency of
calculator use in class and AP test scores? What are the pedagogical
beliefs of teachers that affect calculator choice? What are the
technological beliefs of teachers that affect calculator choice? Is
there a relationship between beliefs and AP scores?

Results will only be used for educational purposes. I would appreciate
your input into my study as I feel the results will help us make more
informed decisions for our AP Calculus students on the type of
calculator used. The more of you who participate, the more valuable my
results will be for our field. Results will be shared through the AP
Calculus Electronic Discussion Group upon completion of the
dissertation. Information is requested from current AP teachers, as well
as former AP teachers and college calculus instructors.

An informed consent form is located at the beginning of the survey.
Thank you for your assistance in helping me to gather this data.
