Thanks Alan for your response.Actually there are 4 variables but in fmincon it asks for initial value to start but I do not know the starting value at all say for example iI give the starting value as [-1.9,501,44,201].It returns the same value as the result.Is there any method through which I can find the starting value for the objective function I gave?I simply can't guess the value.Another problem is that this problem of getting the initial value is repeated in simulated annealing method also what ever the initial value I give I get the same answer as result but Genetic Algorithm gives entirely a different answer..now actually I've modified the objective function as:

f=-(1-1/1+exp(-15.02+(6.09*(1-(100-(95*exp((-0.03353*a(1)*a(1)*a(1)*a(1))-(0.2179*a(1)*a(1)))/100))))+(4.88*(1-(0.5*(1/1+exp(3.118-0.00215*a(2))))+(0.5*(1/(1+exp(3.23-0.00117*a(2)))))))+(4.73*(1-1/(1+exp(9.54-0.134*a(3)))))+(3.7*(1-1/(1+exp(-1.017+0.00558*a(4)))))));

for this function only the above stated error of getting the initial value in result occurs..
Thanks
