Fifth International Conference on
Technology in Mathematics Teaching

University of Klagenfurt - August, 6-9th, 2001

Last conferences of this series were in Plymouth 99 and Koblenz 97.
· new research from internationally renowned speakers
· plenty of possibilities to co-operate in working groups
· conference leisure time in a popular European tourist region

Teachers, curriculum designers, researchers in mathematics education,
designers of educational software, all these groups should come together
and exchange ideas and the latest results on technologies in teaching in
order to improve teaching of mathematics at all levels of education.
Sessions and plenary speakers:

Integration of IC technologies into learning processes (J.-B. Lagrange)

Tommy Dreyfus: The construction of meaning for
abstract algebraic concepts
Technologically presented learning material (B. Winkelmann)

Alison Clark-Jeavons, Rosalyn Hyde:
Developing a technologically rich scheme of work for 11-12 year olds in
mathematics for electronic delivery
Technology in Teacher Education (J. Carvalho e Silva)

Branca Silveira:
Teacher training: the role of technology
Changes in Geometry and Algebra via DGS and CAS (H.-G. Weigand)

Jean Flower:
Use of DGS as a tool for teaching
undergraduate mathematics
Co-operation between DGS and CAS (M. Garbayo Moreno)

Eugenio Roanes-Lozano:
Co-operation Between Dynamic Geometry Systems and Computer Algebra Systems
- Investigating, Guessing, Checking and Proving with the computer
Mathematical modeling with technology (J. Sharp)

John Berry:
The use of technology in
developing mathematical modelling skills
The global perspective of information technology (P. Bender)
Walter Oberschelp:
Chances and limits for teaching
in the information age - human mind models and society demands
