What we want to do with a max-min problem is give the students a problem whose answer that might like to know now or in the future. The problems you set depend on who the students are.
Engineers tell me that they want their students to be able to use math to model situations from engineering, then use math to say something about the situation. Max-Min problems are a reasonable way to give my students practice at that. Best, Terry
