44 Benefits of CL

Dear listers, I would like to try a slightly different approach to generating a discussion about collaborative learning. Below is a listing of 44 benefits of CL which have been observed and/or researched by numerous CL practitioners.
I would appreciate your comments or observations about the list and addition of new items which may have been overlooked. Please send responses to the list to see if we can generate some additional discussion. Personal anecdotes about CL would be great!
The list is very inclusive, however not all the benefits are realized in every class. Many benefits can be observed to some degree in individual classes and all are obtained throughout an entire semester of CL classroom activites.
As a personal opinion it never ceases to amaze me that more teachers do not use CL or other interactive techniques, considering the long list of benefits to the students.
I have available an expanded version of the list with more detailed explanations and references for each benefit for those who are interested. I won't burden the list with the expanded version. Please e-mail me directly if you wish to receive the detailed version.
