According "the book" for Mma 3.0, it includes an implementation of
Kovacic's algorithm for second order linear ODEs. Does anyone know
whether that was already implemented in Mma 2.2? I only have access
to 2.2 out here, and it surely seems unable to solve any *irreducible*
equation of the form y''[x] + r(x) y[x] == 0 for various r(x).
It does solve some reducible equations of the above form, but you don't
need Kovacic's algorithm for that.
