questions about a excelent set of didactic slides by R. P. Stanley: http://wwwmath.mit.edu/~rstan/transparencies/hooks.pdf: slide 16: d2(n) and d3(n) do not seem to fit the formula for dk(n); cfr http://wwwirma.ustrasbg.fr/~guoniu/papers/p60hdpartconj.pdf pg 7 conjecture 3.2 with which I *do* agree. Different conventions, ot typo's?
*my* problem: can anyone please help me understand (and interpret) slide 35 ?? It is extremely frustrating to have succeeded in reconstructing all slides sofar in Mathematicaoneliners (or abouts), but I'm completely at a loss with this one. Some numerical examples would work wonders for me. And, to make things worse for me, it's labeled "the Fundamental tool".
please?
Wouter
