questions about a excelent set of didactic slides by R. P. Stanley: http://www-math.mit.edu/~rstan/transparencies/hooks.pdf: slide 16: d2(n) and d3(n) do not seem to fit the formula for dk(n);
cfr http://www-irma.u-strasbg.fr/~guoniu/papers/p60hdpartconj.pdf pg 7 conjecture 3.2 with which I *do* agree. Different conventions, ot typo's?
*my* problem: can anyone please help me understand (and interpret) slide 35 ??
It is extremely frustrating to have succeeded in reconstructing all slides sofar in Mathematica-one-liners (or abouts), but I'm completely at a loss with this one.
Some numerical examples would work wonders for me. And, to make things worse for me, it's labeled "the Fundamental tool".
please?
