I sent the following email to State Assessment today. It would be nice if other districts could start planting the seed that ELA and math should alternate as to which subject is tested first.

Each year math gets stuck with kids that are already sick of testing so who knows if they really try as hard as they can?

Our APPR is going to depend on these scores!

Is it possible to alternate when the exams are given with regard to ELA and math in grades 3-8?

Each year, ELA goes first and the kids are always exhausted and burnt out by testing for Round 2 the following week.

It would only seem fair to have ELA go first one year and then the next year have math go first. The extra week it appears that math gets, does not pan out. The kids are too tired to review when they have taken their English tests already during the day.

It would be nice to have math be first for once. The ELA exams used to occur first in the year even when the testing months were different.

Thank you for your consideration.
