.jar files in package folders

I've built a OO package and have created a package folder beginning with a "+" Some of the classes in this package use java objects that I've subclassed in a .jar file. If I put the .jar file in the root of my package folder and try to add it to the dynamic path, Matlab adds the jar but doesn't see any classes inside it. If I move the .jar out of the package, Matlab sees it no problem. So, how would I distribute my package to other users? Is this a known limitation? I suppose I could distribute my package where the root folder is not a class folder....The static path is not an option as I'm distributing this code to other users. I cannot (easily anyway) manually edit their classpath files.
