Think about this...there were no complex fractions... no complex
numbers... no nature of the roots.. no simplifying rational
expressions

Part II's no regression equation... no law of sines/cosines/area....
no trig graphs....

How about all the negatives that had to be substituted???(how many
times were they going to test that??)

I called the state on #32 this afternoon and they said that I was the
only one to complain. We strongly believe it is a flawed question (and
answer). Please call-in tomorrow if you feel the same way my department
and I feel. The number is 518-474-5900. I cannot imagine taking any
credit off for a student who successfully argues that there is no
inverse function of f(x)= x^2-6.

The key states + or ? (as a symbol) sqrt(x + 6). Just stating the
positive sqrt only is a 1 point deduction on a 2 pt problem.

I already alerted our principal that there is a major problem with 32. I
have not yet seen the key. What were they looking for?
"There is no inverse function"? or instructions to restrict the domain
and THEN take the inverse? Hardly likely for a 2-pointer.

I have no confidence in the ability of NYSED to produce a good
examination in mathematics.

I strongly agree with Meg's comment about #32; the answer must be a
function!
