"Because of variations in the use of f-1 notation throughout New York State, a revised rubric for Question 32 has been provided. Please rescore all students' responses to Question 32 using the revised rubric below."
Actually means:
"Because our exam is so poorly written, edited and mathematically incorrect, here is the rubric we had to rewrite after a thousand math teachers called and yelled at us. We thought about trying to blame it on different flavors of notation across the state to save face, but it would have looked too lame"
William C. Tozzo, Ed.D. Mathematics Coordinator 6-12 Bedford Central School District (914)241-6046
"MATH IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS IN COLLEGE: In a pair of landmark federal studies that followed high school students through their postsecondary years, Clifford Adelman found that the highest level of math taken in high school has the most powerful relationship to earning a bachelor's degree" http://www.achieve.org/files/ChallengingMath.pdf
