Hi. I am hoping I can find an answer to a question that always comes up
as we prepare for the summer administration of regents exams. I teach summer
school math for BOCES along with 3 other local math teachers. At my home
school, when we reset graphing calculators, we leave the calculators in
the reset mode. Another teacher, from a neighboring school district, goes
back and changes the radian mode into degree mode and then passes the
calculator to the students. He also instructs the other teachers, especially the
special proctors, to do the same when giving the calculators. My BOCES
administrator agrees to do whatever the other teacher says even after I told
him we are not suppose to do that. (That 's another long story!) This has
been happening for two years now. I believe it is unfairly helping the
students. Am I being too "old school"? If I am wrong, then I will do the same. I
am usually a Geometry proctor so it really won't affect answers. Thanks
for your help!
