PoW taking place: math problem-solving moment of the week

"I got a bit stuck when trying to find all the different
routes but that was only because I was a bit rusty on how to
find all the combinations. I have definitely answered problems
like this previously, especially in MCAS (the Massachusetts
Comprehensive Assessment System). I knew first off that I
needed to multiply something to find the answer but at first I
wasn't sure what...."

Now taking place: math education conversation of the hour

"Good problems spur good discussions. 1973 AB Calculus Exam
question #23 provides such discussion. We have started to call
some of these problems 'stealth' problems because some of the
parts are missing or don't appear in function form.... I would
love to hear about other favorite DQ problems (definition of a
derivative) as well."
