Geometry as Freshman before Algebra and Algebra 2/Trig

Our school is contemplating moving Geometry to a freshman class and Algebra to a sophomore class. We feel that the students have enough algebra knowledge to do so from 8th grade. Our question is: are any of you doing it? If so has it been successful? Please advise ASAP. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
