On a multiple choice question, the problem asked why one must check the np
and n(1-p) condition for z-tests for proportions. The answer key stated
that the answer was because z-tests should not be used on highly skewed
sampling distributions. Could someone clarify this for me? I feel like I
will have a hard time explaining this to my class.

Thanks in advance,
