The department seeks to fill an anticipated Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2012-2013 academic year at Sam Houston State University in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
The position requires the equivalent of a master's degree in mathematics (at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics) for consideration. Candidates that hold a doctorate in mathematics education or hold a doctorate in mathematics with a strong, documented history of research, teaching and service in mathematics education are welcome to apply. The teaching load is expected to be 3 courses per semester (9 hour load), primarily content mathematics courses for elementary and middle grades preservice teachers.

Sam Houston State University is located in historic Huntsville, 60 miles north of Houston in the Piney Woods region of East Texas. The university has a student enrollment of approximately 17,000 and a faculty of 500. The Mathematics and Statistics Department has 28 tenure/tenure-track faculty positions in mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics and offers bachelor's and master's-level degree programs in mathematics and in statistics.
