What's a good PC for Matlab?

I'm getting ready to buy a new Matlab computer. I now have a DX-2 66, with 16 megs of RAM, Diamond Viper Video card, SCSI II hard drives, eisa bus I think. I do signal processing; bring in 40,000 element vectors, and try ideas on them. I do time frequency analysis, sometimes have 400x 400 element mesh plots. It takes a long time to compute and a long time to print. At 400x400 it's sometimes hard to see the detail on a laser III. Do I now want a Pentium 166, with Triton chip set, and so many PCI slots, and ISA slots? Do I need a lot more memory. 512 Cache, pipeline burst. How can I sensibly figure this out. I will appreciate any advice. Is the SCSI bus a waste?
