Path & Windows95 (can't execute my .m-files)

Hello.
I'm running MATLAB under Windows95. When I create new functions or scripts MATLAB can't execute them unless they are saved in the current working directory. Not even if "Path" contains the correct path to them. "Help" prints the help text correctly, and "type" also works, but they do not run. Is this normal, and if not what can I do to solve this problem?
Regards,
Per
