A nine-month, tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education is available beginning August, 2013.
Position Title: Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education (Early Grades Education)
Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:
Primary teaching responsibility will be mathematics content courses (MATH 2008, 3316, 3317 and 3318) for prospective elementary (K-5) teachers. Some teaching will be at the Paulding Instructional Site located in Dallas, Georgia, about 20 miles west of the main campus. Engagement in scholarship and department, college, and/or university service will be expected. Other responsibilities may include teaching of mathematics and mathematics education courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, supervising field experiences, and academic advising.
The ideal candidate will have research interest in elementary mathematics education (including mathematical preparation of elementary school teachers). Experience working with prospective and/or practicing elementary school teachers is desirable. K-5 classroom teaching experience is also desirable.
Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):
An earned doctorate in mathematics education, or a related field with appropriate experience; a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate level mathematics; and a record of, or potential for, a program of scholarly activities are required.
