I Have a question about Matlab .M files and paths

Im using matlab4.02 under windows3.11.
My question is: How can i execute .m files which have same names but
exists in different directories and perform different operations?

for instance:

work\sub1\plotout.m ;plots a sine out
work\sub2\plotout.m ;plots a cosine out

I don`t want to change to the subdirectory in which the .m file exists. I
thougth to plot the sine out, the matlab command:
>> sub1\plotout
from the directory work\ works but it does not. Can anybody help me

thanks in advance
