Matlab and Sound Analysis

Hello! I am posting to this newsgroup not for an answer to a technical question (not yet anyway), but in search of others who use Matlab for sound analysis, especially in the field of BIOACOUSTICS. I am a 2nd -year graduate student in the Zoology Dept. at the University of Texas at Austin. The emphasis of my dissertation has become fish acoustic communication and as a result I am looking around for a rigorous, useful sound analysis program. I've been slowly making head way with Matlab (due to time constraints on my part...) and so far am much happier with it than with the supposed end-all-be-all of SIGNAL. All the sound analysis expertise I have access to (via my adviser) is with SIGNAL and I am hoping to get in touch with people who might have pointers and advice with Matlab. Please feel free to email me at: anabas@mail.utexas.edu
Sincerely,
Dawn Johnson
