Help!-Importing columns of data

I was wondering if it is possible to select certain columns to import out of a
multi-column data file. I am working with huge data files with between 20 and
30 columns, and I would to import individual columns (say 5 or 6) as vectors.

I normally used the C-type commands (fopen, fscanf, etc) to import entire
files.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jeffrey
