Hi

I read several times that a radial basis function e^{-mu(x-y)^2} can
also be represented by a scalar product <phi(x),phi(y)> where phi
transfers the vector x (y) into infinite space. But no paper I found
actually gave an explanation or referred to one paper giving one.
Does someone knows a paper where this is described? I now how this works
but I am looking for a paper about it. Optimally the paper where this
was introduced first. But some other paper or book would also be
appreciated.

Best regards and thank you
